Too Long !

Ohhh, It has been WAY TO LONG!!  And MOM missed my GOTCHA DAY on, June 5.   So that means I rescued the Brown family 3 years ago yesterday!    Mom has been super busy lately and barely has time to post about me (and sissy Black Pearl).  After her Business English final writing assignment (in which she is supposed to be doing, but writing about me is sooo much more important) she will try to get back to daily posts.   Boy, did I find the greatest family to live for!  Dad, Mom, Brian, and Amy are so nice and give me lots of treats and lovins.  I sure hope every puggy finds their perfect family!!    Hopefully very soon ya'll hear about me and Black Pearl's adventures again.  Until then, I LOVE MY FAMILY!

Look what the humans brought back in their "doggy" bag that got added to our dinner kibbles.   Ohhh bits of ham, a little turkey, a couple chunks of prime rib fat, and BEANS, yummy, yummy BEANS!  Thanks dad, mom, & Amy,  WE LOVE YOU!

Dutch Update

Sophie took over the Daily Puglet and has given us good news - Dutch is gonna be OK.  Got his tubes unhooked yesterday so he go go outside to "go".   Keep him in your prawyers.  Now recovery and then logistics on getting him back to CA.

Yesterday, Dutch and Miss Amanda flew to the East Coast to visit cousin Sophie, (Puglet is staying with Frank in California).  Sometime in the middle of the night Dutch became very ill, Miss Amanda and her brother got him to the Vet and he went straight away in to surgery.   Dutch was showing signs of GVD, aka dog Bloat (google it, very bad).  The next few hours are gonna be touch-and-go for Dutchy.

Mom found these two "planters" on Amazon.com and HAD to have them.  "We" are at mom's work  -  Black Pearl holds all her paperclips and Otis holds her pens and pencils.

Ahhh Spring !

Ahh, Spring has sprung - it's sooo nice that we are actually playing outside.   Dad and mom have also left the back screen door (with our doggy door) open so we can go outside anytime.   Here in the Northwest, we got no snow this year,  tt did get pretty cold some nights though.

Mom stayed home from work today so she let us up on the bed with her.   Black Pearl is somewhere under the covers, usually at the foot of the bed.  After about 20 minutes of licking, Otis finally settled down and went to sleep,   So nice, cuddling with mom :)

Black Pearl Eye Update

Alot of blogging happing on the Daily Puglet site - not all nice.  So to show support for Miss Amanada, Puglet, and Dutch, mom left up the Happy Birthday to Miss Amanda post on purpose.  Hopefully mean people have moved on and we can once again enjoy our Daily Puglet!

But back to us -

Oh look at Black Pearls follow-up eye report -  MARKEDLY IMPROVED!!  Even Dr. Landry was amazed at her sight improvment.  Six weeks ago, Black Pearl's eyes were so cloudy Dr. Landry couldn't see into her eyes at all, now he can see clear to the back of the eye!  Black Pearl's tear production went off-the chart, she will still need the eye drops for the rest of her life.  And her eye's have cleared up so much that for the month of March she only needs the eye ointment every other day.  Come March 31, no more eye ointment, yahoo!!

Thanks for all your prayers and juju !!  Black Pearl is seeing great!

Otis Review's Love

Otis got to try Honest Kitchen's Love mix tonight.  No hesitation, just ate it right up.  This video is about 39 seconds long- enjoy.

Honest Kitchen is all natural dog and cat dehydrated whole food indredient mixes.  Their website is:  www.the honestkitchen.com.  We started using Honest Kitchen last spring - it sure has helped Black Pearl's and Otis's fur be shiny and soft.    They both are very excited for dinner !!

Honest Kitchen sent us some samples to try - Black Pearl is reviewing the LOVE package.

Love is Grain Free, with Fruits and Vegetables, and hormone free Beef. 

 Black Pearl and Otis are already get Force mixed in with their dinner - 1/4 cup Kibbles and 1/4 Cup Force - a dehydrated meal mix - just add water and when all mixed up, fold in with kibbles.  Th small silver bowl is Otis's, the blue bowl is Pearl's.  The Love seams to have a bit more identifiable dehydrated vegetable food  pieces than the Force.

Last night Black Pearl noticed her dinner had a different smell than her regular Force.  She had to smell is twice and then dove right in - ate all her dinner.   She got the same meal tonight, no hesitation in eating her dinner.   She seams to really enjoy her dinner.

Eyes

See my pretty green eyes?  That's not natural!  I went to an Eye Specialist today.  The eye guy says I have dry eyes cos I don't produce tears.  Normal tear production is above 15 mm, my R eye is only at 5 mm and my L eye is at 8 mm. too low.  Sounds like this has been going on for a long-time.  Aboot two weeks ago, mom noticed I wernt seein too well.   The eye guy said my eyes were so clouded over he couldn't see in them at all.   He says I see aboot as well as if I were looking out a dirty window.   He gave mom some eye drops and eye ointment.  We go back in about 6 weeks to check again.  I should produce tears by then.  Then over the next year, he hopes I get at least 50% of my eye sight back.  The official diagnoses for both eyes:   Keratoconjunctivis sicca - uncontrolled,  Qualitative Tear File Deficiency - uncontrolled,  and Keratitis, Pigmentary - advanced.   Oh, I hope my meds work!

Share five things about yourself and five things about your pugs: 

1.  Before Otis was rescued by Seattle Pug Rescue (SPR) in May of 2010.  He was living outside with a couple of other pugs and a few other dog breeds.  He was in a hoarder situation.   SPR was able to talk the owner in giving up the pugs.   He was guessed at being somewhere between 6 months old and 1 year old when he was rescued.

Black Pearl grew up with a young family.  When she was about 5 years old, the family had a baby girl.  Black Pearl got very jealous of the baby and began sitting on the baby, sitting between mom and baby.    It was very hard for the family to give-up Black Pearl but they felt it was best.  We gladly took Black Pearl in as Otis didn't know how to play.  Black Pearl and Otis have become best friends and play all the time.

Our now 21 year old son Brian has loved pugs ever since Milo and Otis first came out. He has always wanted a pug.  He was looking for a pug for about 3 years and when he was 18 years old, he came found the Seattle Pug Rescue website and we went for a Meet-N-Greet and took Otis home with us.

2.  Otis loves the color pink.

Black Pearl loves to sleep under a blanket anytime of the day or night.

When Brian and mom went to the Meet-N-Greet, dad said we could bring home a female pug only.   No female pug was available and Otis actually picked us out and we got him.  Dad was kinda upset at us for getting a male instead of a female.

3.  Otis's given name was Tuby.   Brian changed his name to Otis.

Black Pearl was raised with a boy Chihuahua so sometimes she lifts her leg like a boy dog when she tinkles.

Mom Lois is a twin.  She has a twin brother who is 6 minutes younger, he livers about 20 miles away.

4.  Otis gently chews on stuffy toys.  Whenever he tears a hole in one, mom sews it up and gives it back to him. 

Black Pearl destroys stuffys.  Within the first month of her being here, she destroyed all stuffy’s Otis had for over a year.

Mom and dad will be celebrating their 25^th anniversary in August.

5.  Otis is a lover!!  He loves to cuddle and follows mom around everywhere!

Black Pearl’s is losing her eye sight.   She is only 6 years old.  We are going to an Animal Eye Specialist on Friday – send lots of juju please.

Otis and Black Pearl and NOT allowed on mom and dad’s bed.  Sometimes when dads gone to work and mom is taking the day off, mom sneaks Otis and Black Pearl in bed with her, please don’t tell dad.

Stolen Toy

Remember our Toys we got for Christmas?  Black Pearl chose the Pink Hamster and Otis chose the White Poodle.   Well, Black  Pearl ate her Pink Hamster and out burst fuzzies and tiny white balls so momma had to discard the Pink Hamster.  Because Black Pearl is a hoarder, she stole Otis's White Poodle - hahaha.  She has already chewed off the tail.

Otis's opinion on the whole stolen toy is oh-well, Pearl can have that crummy  White Poodle,  I'll take a piece (or two) of yummy pumpkin bread instead !!
